Key Requirements:

  • Possessing a creative, entrepreneurial, and context-sensitive approach to youth work. 
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Willing and able to work evenings and weekends for programs or events
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively within teams
  • Strong computer, organizational, time management, and administrative skills
  • Ability to connect with and supervise children and youth alongside fellow staff, volunteers and supervisors 

About Youth Unlimited YFC Highlands

We simply want to be there … a trusted friend, to come alongside youth and help them sort life out. A Youth Worker plays a key role in developing and maintaining programs for youth, building community partnerships and staying connected to the youth.

Approach: Providing "safe spaces" within which to build trusting relationships with caring adults using areas of common interest as a catalyst.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist to develop, prepare and implement youth programs and fundraising activities:
  • Prepare programs and events for summer and fall
  • Running summer programs and events
  • Office admin required for programs, events and fundraising
  • Creating fundraising advertisements
  • Regularly posting on social media for fundraising, programs and events
  • Regular supervision and planning meetings

This is a full time position (30 hours/week) for 9 weeks. The hourly wage for this staff position is $18 to $18. It is determined on a scale based on education and experience (0-5 years).
